As we begin another year of service to researchers and safety engineers in the nuclear field, we wish to extend our thanks to those who have been our customers through the years and express our dedication to serve your continuing need for high quality radiation detectors.
Our founder, Nancy F. Wood (N. Wood), under the direction of Dr. John Simpson, was a member of the team of dedicated scientists and technicians who worked on the safety of our scientific and military personnel during World War II with radiation detectors that produced reliable results.
In the years that followed the end of WWII, N. Wood Counter Laboratory, Inc. came into being to serve the needs of scientists worldwide in developing peaceful uses of atomic energy. Our Model G-15-34A neutron detectors (Simpson Counters) operated all over the world during the 1957 International Geophysical Year. Our G-5-3 neutron detectors were the first to operate in the polar orbiting satellites and the D-5-3L gamma detectors orbited in Poineer V and were included in the Discoverers, Explorers, Mariners and Rangers.
The company moved 50 miles east of Chicago to Chesterton, Indiana in 1993 and in March, 1994, Marjory Wood Crawford purchased the assets of the company.
George Rhed, Production Manager since 1959 maintains the same high standards first developed for defense and research during the 40's and now used in portable instruments worldwide. Celebrating our 50th year, we would like to either acquaint you or reaquaint you with the same dependable radiation detectors that have served the nuclear industry in wartime and peacetime for over half a century.
